Faster detection of xylazine in drugs

The law creates a national push to detect xylazine and similar new drugs. NIST develops better lab methods, faster testing, and near real-time spectrometry tools. NIST works with DEA, CDC, states, labs, colleges, nonprofits, and industry. They create shared strategies and voluntary best practices for safe handling, transport, data sharing, and analysis. NIST can form research partnerships and encourage graduate study on these topics. Sensitive data is protected under law. NIST must report to Congress within one year of enactment.
