Became Law

Summary

Requires Customs and Border Protection to update port-of-entry inspection policies at least every three years to counter new smuggling methods. The law directs the Commissioner to review and revise the Office of Field Operations’ policies and manuals so inspection practices are uniform and can respond to technological or methodological changes used to disguise illegal activity, such as drug and human smuggling. After each update the Commissioner must send a report summarizing the policy and manual changes to the House and Senate homeland security committees. The act is formally titled the Eradicating Narcotic Drugs and Formulating Effective New Tools to Address National Yearly Losses of life Act.
