Recognizing the essential work of the League of Oregon Cities.
Sponsored By: Representative Bonamici, Suzanne [D-OR-1]
Introduced
Summary
This concurrent resolution would recognize the League of Oregon Cities' century-long role supporting and advocating for Oregon cities and federal-local partnerships. It notes the League was founded in 1925 by 25 cities and credits it with improving municipal governance, lobbying for infrastructure and home rule, providing legislative advocacy and professional development, and partnering with Congress on federal investments such as support for the CHIPS and Science Act, American Rescue Plan relief, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that brought Oregon over $4.5 billion, the CARES Act, and the ReConnect broadband program, and it highlights that 241 cities serve about 3.0 million residents or 70 percent of the state's population.
