Remove U.S. forces from Iran hostilities
If adopted by both chambers, this resolution would direct the President to remove U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities against Iran unless Congress declares war or specifically authorizes force against Iran. It would apply to forces used in combat roles or for occupation. The resolution would still allow the United States to defend itself, its forces, diplomatic facilities, or allied states from imminent attack, allow a defensive troop presence in the region, and would not require removing U.S. forces who are not engaged in hostilities with Iran. The resolution would also say it does not authorize the use of military force. If adopted, it would not stop intelligence, counterintelligence, or investigative activities related to threats from Iran, including collection, analysis, and sharing of intelligence when the President finds it necessary for national security.
