Preserve mortgage borrower protections for successors
This bill would disapprove the CFPB rule published May 12, 2025 (90 Fed. Reg. 20084). That rule withdrew the CFPB's 2014 guidance (79 Fed. Reg. 41631) on successors-in-interest. If enacted, the withdrawal would have no force or effect and the 2014 guidance would remain in place. This would preserve Ability-To-Repay protections for borrowers and people who take over a mortgage. It would take effect upon enactment.
