Mueller-Keating Memorial Highway Act

Sponsored By: Representative Hamadeh, Abraham J. [R-AZ-8]

Introduced

Summary

Mueller-Keating Memorial Highway names a 26-mile stretch of Interstate 17 in Arizona to honor Kayla Jean Mueller and Chief Petty Officer Charles H. Keating IV. It recognizes Mueller’s humanitarian work and abduction and murder by ISIS in Syria and Keating’s service and death as a U.S. Navy SEAL in Iraq, and links their stories to communities along I-17 from Phoenix through the Prescott region to northern Arizona. *This designation is purely honorary, preserves the existing Arizona Veterans Highway name, allows limited memorial signage at Sunset Point Rest Area, and does not require federal funding or change the federal budget.*
