More global help for tuberculosis
If enacted, the bill would let the President fund expanded TB programs worldwide. From January 1, 2027 to December 31, 2030 it would set numeric goals: cut TB cases 80% and TB deaths 90% from 2015 levels by 2030; diagnose and start treatment for 90% of TB cases and 90% of drug‑resistant cases; reach 90% treatment success; and provide preventive treatment to 30,000,000 people. The assistance would prioritize diagnosis, lab capacity, patient support, drug‑resistant TB care, research and development, and annual support for the Global Drug Facility. Grants and funding agreements would need access and affordability provisions. The authority and programs would remain in effect until January 1, 2033.
