Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

More mosquito control grants and training

This bill would authorize $100 million each year from 2026 through 2030 for the Mosquito Abatement program. If Congress appropriates the money, the Secretary would be able to give grants for mosquito control and to provide training and technical help for planning and control programs. Grant recipients would be able to use up to 5% of each award per year for continuing education and training, including support for public health entomologists. The Secretary would also be able to consider innovative or novel mosquito-control technology when awarding grants.

Prepare stockpile of mosquito supplies

This bill would let the HHS Secretary, through the CDC Director and the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, prepare the Strategic National Stockpile to hold emergency supplies of nonperishable vector-control products. The Secretary would have to add a stockpile plan to the national vector-borne disease strategy and plan how to work with manufacturers to buy control products quickly. The provision would set planning and coordination rules but would not itself appropriate funds.
