Permanent priority vouchers for pediatric drugs
If enacted, this bill would strike paragraph (5) of Section 529(b) of the FD&C Act and make the FDA's authority to award priority review vouchers for rare pediatric disease products permanent. Drug makers would continue to be able to receive these vouchers for qualifying pediatric products. Companies would be able to use or sell vouchers to get faster FDA review for other drugs. This would indirectly speed access for some patients while directly benefiting product sponsors. The change would take effect upon enactment.
