Congress must approve beef import changes
This bill would cancel the Presidential Proclamation titled "Further Ensuring Affordable Beef for the American Consumer" published August 26, 2026. It would also stop any presidential action that increases beef imports from taking effect unless the President submits it to Congress and Congress enacts a law approving it within 30 days of submission. These changes would limit the executive branch’s ability to expand beef imports and could delay or block import increases.
Beef supply advisory board
This bill would create a Beef Import and Domestic Supply Advisory Board inside the Department of Agriculture. The Secretary of Agriculture would chair the board and appoint 11 members, including ranchers from each Census region, a national rancher organization representative, a grocery affordability expert, a livestock stockyard rep (with border priority), a land-grant livestock researcher, a cattle feeder, a domestic beef processor, and an agricultural economist. The board would develop strategies to rebuild the cattle herd, boost U.S. beef production, reduce regulatory barriers for ranchers, and advise the Secretary and Congress. The board would be created on enactment and end four years later.
