Grants for local police and communities
If enacted, the bill would provide supplemental FY2026 funding to state and local public safety programs totaling $900 million: $600 million for Byrne Justice Assistance grants, $150 million for community violence prevention, $100 million for hiring and rehiring officers, and $50 million for emergency assistance. All funds would remain available until expended and would be designated emergency requirements for FY2026.
