Protections for private school scholarships

This bill would bar Federal, State, and local governments from directing or controlling scholarship granting organizations that participate in section 25F. It would say participating SGOs are not acting on behalf of the government just by taking part. The bill would stop governments from excluding or disadvantaging private or religious elementary and secondary schools when deciding which education expenses qualify under section 25F. It would also stop governments from discouraging parents from using SGO scholarships at private or nonprofit schools, including faith-based schools. This would not guarantee any family a scholarship or a tax benefit.
