Clean School Bus Reauthorization Act
Sponsored By: Representative Hayes, Jahana [D-CT-5]
Introduced
Summary
Extends the Clean School Bus Program's authorization to 2027–2031. This bill would amend Section 741(f) of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 by replacing the current "2022 through 2026" authorization dates with "2027 through 2031," and otherwise leaves the program's scope, eligibility, funding mechanisms, and rules unchanged.

Extends Clean School Bus authorization
If enacted, the bill would extend the Clean School Bus Program's authorized period by replacing "2022 through 2026" with "2027 through 2031." This would keep the program authorized through 2031. The provision does not provide any funding or guarantee that school districts or bus operators would receive grants. School communities and parents would benefit only if the program later provided funds to buy cleaner school buses.
