One Front Door for Elder Fraud Act of 2026
Sponsored By: Representative Perez, Marie Gluesenkamp [D-WA-3]
Introduced
Summary
Creates a centralized, government-wide intake and help hub for fraud targeting older Americans. The bill would direct the Federal Trade Commission's Elder Justice Coordinator, working with the Department of Justice's National Elder Justice Coordinator, to establish a website and a 24/7 hotline within 180 days. The intake would let users file complaints, submit calls, letters, or emails that claim to be from the federal government for verification, or request referrals to the right agency or state or local help. The system must confirm receipt within 1 day. The website must prominently display the hotline and offer digital resources drawn from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, Social Security Administration, Internal Revenue Service, Federal Communications Commission, Office of Management and Budget, Department of Defense, Department of Education, and Department of State. The term "elder" is defined in section 2011 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1397j).
