Stop Beijing’s Bots Act
Sponsored By: Representative Biggs, Sheri [R-SC-3]
Introduced
Summary
Bans Department of Defense use of certain Chinese-origin robotic systems. This bill would stop the DOD from buying, leasing, or operating defined robotic platforms and components tied to the People’s Republic of China. It creates staged deadlines, an annual review to update covered systems and entities, and a narrow waiver and notification process.

- DOD program offices would have to halt new purchases of covered robotic systems after 1 year and would be barred from operating them in sensitive operational environments after 2 years.
- Companies with at least a 20 percent ownership tie to a PRC person, or those that supply covered platforms and key sensors, could be designated as covered and face exclusion from DOD procurement and leasing.
- The Secretary could grant case-by-case waivers for up to 180 days if no acceptable alternative exists, but must notify congressional defense committees within 30 days with justification and a removal or replacement plan.
