More state funding for gambling addiction

If enacted, States would get yearly grants to fund gambling addiction treatment and prevention. For fiscal years 2025 through 2034, the grant pool would equal 37.5% of the Treasury’s estimate of certain federal wagering taxes from the prior year. Funds would be split using the same ratios as the federal substance abuse block grant. States must apply; if a State does not apply, its share would go to States that did.

Research funding on gambling addiction

If enacted, the National Institute on Drug Abuse could award research grants on gambling addiction. For fiscal years 2025 through 2034, funding would equal 12.5% of the Treasury’s estimate of certain federal wagering taxes from the prior year. The Director would choose which projects to fund.
