Doctors in our Borders Act
Sponsored By: Representative Lawler, Michael [R-NY-17]
Introduced
Summary
Raises the Conrad 30 waiver cap to more than 100 physicians. The bill would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act by replacing the phrase "to exceed 30" with "to exceed 100" in 8 U.S.C. 1184(l)(1)(B). That change increases the maximum number of physicians who may receive Conrad 30 waivers from 30 to a limit exceeding 100.

More slots for immigrant doctors in underserved areas
If enacted, this bill would raise the cap on Conrad physician waivers from 30 to 100. States could sponsor more eligible immigrant doctors to work in underserved or rural areas. Patients in shortage areas could see better access to care, depending on how states use the slots. The text provided does not specify an effective date.
