Deadlines for Fannie and Freddie exit plans
The Treasury Secretary would have 30 days after enactment to report to the House Financial Services and Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committees. The report would say if Treasury finished the Article IX proposals in the January 14, 2021 letter agreements with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. If a proposal is finished, Treasury would include it; if not, it would include the latest draft, if any. For any unfinished proposal, Treasury would complete and submit it within 90 days after enactment. This would not change mortgage rules now; it sets deadlines and oversight for plans to end the conservatorships.
