Ensuring Continuity in Veterans Health Act
Sponsored By: Representative Franklin, Scott [R-FL-18]
In Committee
Summary
Prioritizes continuity of care by requiring the Department of Veterans Affairs to consider ongoing treatment relationships when deciding whether to furnish care through the Veterans Community Care Program (VCCP). The bill would add a new "continuity of care" subparagraph to 38 U.S.C. §1703(d)(2), making continuity an explicit factor in determinations of a veteran's best medical interest when choosing between VA care and community providers.

VA would consider care continuity
If enacted, VA would have to consider continuity of care when deciding if community care is in a veteran’s best medical interest. This could help you keep seeing the same doctor or care team. It would not change who qualifies for the Veterans Community Care Program. The change would take effect upon enactment and apply to these best-interest decisions.
