Introduced
Summary
Awards a Congressional Gold Medal to the First Rhode Island Regiment. This bill would require the Secretary of the Treasury to strike a single gold medal for the Rhode Island State Library to display and make available for research and for showing at other sites tied to the regiment, allow the United States Mint to strike and sell bronze duplicates at prices that cover production costs, and treat the medals as national numismatic items with proceeds deposited into the Mint Public Enterprise Fund.

Gold medal for First Rhode Island Regiment
If enacted, the bill would authorize Congress to award one Congressional Gold Medal to the First Rhode Island Regiment. The Secretary of the Treasury would strike the gold medal with suitable design and inscriptions. After the award, the medal would be given to the Rhode Island State Library for display and research, and the library would be asked to let the medal be displayed elsewhere. The Secretary would be allowed to strike bronze duplicate medals and sell them at prices sufficient to cover production costs. Money from those sales would be deposited into the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund, and the Mint could charge that Fund to pay medal costs.
