Protecting our Communities from Sexual Predators Act
Sponsored By: Representative Buchanan, Vern [R-FL-16]
Introduced
Summary
This bill would make noncitizens who commit sexual assault subject to mandatory detention, denial of admission, and deportation. It inserts a new "sexual assault" ground across key parts of the Immigration and Nationality Act so convictions, admissions, or acts that meet the legal definition trigger detention, inadmissibility, or removal.

Stricter immigration penalties for sexual assault
If enacted, the bill would make noncitizens convicted of, or admitting to, sexual-assault offenses inadmissible. It would also make those noncitizens deportable. It would expand mandatory detention for inadmissible noncitizens. Detention would apply if a person is charged with or arrested for a sexual-assault offense. Detention would also apply if the person is convicted of sexual assault or admits acts that meet its elements. The bill cross-references the definition in section 214(d)(3)(A). These changes would take effect upon enactment.
