Tighter eligibility for Energy Department foundation leaders
If enacted, the bill would tighten who can lead or work at the Department of Energy’s Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation. Voting board members, the executive director, and all officers and employees would need to be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, a refugee admitted under law, or a lawful permanent resident. Department of Energy employees would be barred from serving as voting board members. The Foundation would also have to follow security rules in the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act when carrying out this section. This changes eligibility and governance only; it would not add new spending.
