President Jimmy Carter Congressional Gold Medal Act

Sponsored By: Representative Bishop, Sanford D. [D-GA-2]

Introduced

Summary

A posthumous Congressional Gold Medal for Jimmy Carter would be authorized to recognize his long public service and humanitarian work. The bill would direct the Speaker of the House and the Senate President pro tempore to present a single gold medal and then transfer it to the Carter Center in Atlanta. The Secretary of the Treasury would design and strike the medal bearing Carter’s name and may produce bronze duplicates sold at prices that cover production costs. All costs would be charged to the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund and proceeds from duplicate sales would be deposited back into that fund.
