Show full summary
- State and Defense would have to deliver a comprehensive report within 180 days of enactment that analyzes CSIPA’s strategic benefits, including military readiness, shared economic interests, science and technology collaboration, long-term advantages, required resources, barriers among allies, and CSIPA’s role in responding to Houthi attacks.
- The Secretary of State would have 180 days after that report to submit a strategy to grow CSIPA membership and would brief the House Foreign Affairs and Armed Services committees and the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services committees within 60 days of developing the strategy.
- Both the report and the strategy must be submitted in unclassified form and may include a classified annex.
- The required analysis must also cover how CSIPA can leverage the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain to project strength and support rapid responses to threats against merchant vessels and regional security.
