Postal Processing Protection Act
Sponsored By: Representative Hageman, Harriet M. [R-WY-At Large]
Introduced
Summary
Broadens the legal definition of "post office" to include USPS-owned processing, distribution, shipping, delivery, and acceptance facilities that support one or more post offices. This bill would expand 39 U.S.C. §404(d) so those supporting facilities are treated the same as individual post offices for the purposes of that section.

More notice before postal facility changes
If enacted, this would treat many Postal Service processing and delivery sites like post offices under closure rules. USPS would need to give public notice and consult communities before changing, moving, or closing these facilities. It would cover facilities that accept, process, ship, deliver, or distribute mail and support one or more post offices. Households and small businesses could get more warning and a chance to weigh in on changes.
