This bill would set a 180‑day deadline for Interior to approve a State’s wildlife program after the plan is submitted. When a State submits a plan, the Secretary would conditionally authorize the program and set aside amounts as allowed. Interior would have to work with States to create a process that meets the 180‑day review goal and prioritize these reviews. If approval is late, Interior would need to report by June 1 of the next year to House Natural Resources and Senate Environment and Public Works leaders, explaining the delay and status.
