Sanctions on Suhil Bahij Gharab
If enacted, upon enactment Suhil Bahij Gharab would be listed under Executive Order 13224. U.S. persons and banks would have to block his property and stop transactions with him. This would aim to cut off money tied to terrorism.
U.S. aid to Lebanese forces paused
Starting 60 days after enactment, U.S. funds for Lebanon’s armed forces would be blocked. Funding would stay paused until the Secretary of State certifies strict steps against Hezbollah and allied parties. Lebanon would need to stop seating ministers tied to Hezbollah, the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, or Amal. Lebanese forces would need to remove Hezbollah from Lebanon under U.N. Resolution 1559, including from known strongholds, and increase their presence there. The forces could not coordinate with Hezbollah or any U.S.-listed terrorist group, and no member could receive support from Iran or Hezbollah. Any Iranian-supplied weapons or gear would have to be destroyed. Lebanese courts and military tribunals would need to drop charges and warrants against American critics and journalists who opposed Hezbollah. Also starting 60 days after enactment, U.S. funds could not support UNDP livelihood programs that aid members of the Lebanese armed forces or internal security forces.
