ACRES Act
Sponsored By: Representative Tiffany, Thomas P. [R-WI-7]
Passed House
Summary
Standardized, verifiable tracking of hazardous fuels reduction acres would require USDA and the Department of the Interior to count and publicly report how many acres of federal land received vegetation treatments and whether those treatments reduced wildfire risk. The bill would also require standardized data procedures and a Government Accountability Office study on how the rules are implemented.
Show full summary

- Congress and the public: The reports must be posted on USDA and Interior websites and the Comptroller General must deliver a GAO study on implementation within 2 years of enactment.
