New time limits for water pollution permits
If enacted, federal water discharge permits would have fixed end dates. Permits for a State or municipality could last up to 10 years. Permits for any other permit holder could last up to 5 years. Agencies would set the exact term within those caps. Permit holders would need to renew at least that often, which could add paperwork and reviews.
