  • Women veterans would get a public, detailed review of what menopause care the VA currently offers, how well it works, and veteran feedback on quality.
  • VA clinicians and facilities would have their training, diagnosis and treatment protocols, referral practices, and educational outreach reviewed.
  • The Comptroller General must publish the report within 18 months, and the VA Secretary would have 6 months after that to send the House and Senate Committees on Veterans' Affairs a strategic plan to implement the report's recommendations and improve access and quality.

More menopause care for veterans

This bill would require the Comptroller General to study VA menopause care and publish a report within 18 months of enactment. This bill would require the VA Secretary to send Congress a strategic plan within 6 months after that report is public. The plan would have to follow the report's recommendations and aim to improve the quality of and access to menopause care under VA authorities (sections 1703 and 1710). The bill would not itself appropriate funds or change who is eligible for VA care.
