Expanded partnership tax break for clean energy
The bill would expand which energy activities can get publicly traded partnership tax treatment. Investors and energy firms could benefit if more projects qualify to use this structure. Covered activities would include renewable power and heat, energy storage, hydrogen fuel, advanced nuclear, and some waste and biomass projects. Some items would qualify regardless of when the equipment was built, and others must meet tests like a 60% lifecycle greenhouse-gas cut, 95% biobased content, or at least 50% qualified carbon at certain carbon-capture facilities. If enacted, these rules would apply to tax years beginning after December 31, 2025.
