- Low-income households in qualifying areas could get vouchers that cover half of customer premises equipment costs and up to $30 per month for service.
- BEAD grant recipients and other eligible entities could use BEAD funds to issue these vouchers within their political subdivisions and must prioritize subdivisions with per capita income below the local median.
- A household can only receive a voucher if its location is unserved or underserved, and each voucher may cover charges for a single 12-month period.

One-year broadband vouchers for unserved or underserved homes
If enacted, states or other eligible entities that get federal broadband grants could give vouchers to households. They could use vouchers only in local areas they judge lack adequate broadband. On the day before your first voucher, your home must be in an unserved or underserved location. Vouchers could pay up to 50% of the cost to buy or lease satellite or fixed-wireless equipment. They could also cover up to $30 per month for service, for up to 12 straight months. This monthly help would be limited to one 12-month period per household. Entities would prioritize households in areas with below-median per-capita income.
