Limits Miami Tribe land claims in Illinois

This bill would let the U.S. Court of Federal Claims hear a Miami Tribe of Oklahoma land claim tied to the 1805 Treaty of Grouseland. That authority would apply even if a statute of limitations or any delay-based defense would otherwise block the claim. The special authority would be available for one year after enactment unless the Miami Tribe files a claim in that court. On enactment, all other current and future claims by the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma to land in Illinois would be extinguished. This includes claims by tribe members, descendants, or predecessors in interest. The extinguishment would not affect any claim the tribe files under the special Court of Federal Claims authority. Illinois landowners would have more certainty about property title if enacted.
