New freeze insurance for grape growers
This bill would direct the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation to study and design insurance for table, wine, and juice grapes hit by freeze. The agency would need to start research within 1 year of enactment and could hire contractors. If the legal requirements in section 508(h) are met, the policy would be offered within 18 months. The agency would report to Congress within 2 years on the research and the policy. If passed, grape growers could get coverage for freeze losses.
