Disabled retirees could get both checks

This bill would let more retired service members with VA-rated disabilities receive both their retired pay and VA disability pay. It would extend eligibility to those with disability ratings below 50%. To qualify, you would need to be entitled to both payments for the month. Some Chapter 61 disability retirees with less than 20 years of service under the standard counts would be excluded. It would also end prior phase-in rules, and would apply to payments for months beginning on or after January 1, 2021.
