No Vaccine Mandates in Higher Education Act
Sponsored By: Representative Messmer, Mark B. [R-IN-8]
Introduced
Summary
Blocks federal funding to colleges and universities that require COVID-19 vaccination. The bill would deny any Federal funds to an "institution of higher education" as defined in the Higher Education Act if the institution makes COVID-19 vaccination a condition of enrollment, employment, or receipt of any benefit, service, or contract. It makes the funding denial the sole enforcement step and creates no exceptions, waivers, phase-ins, or additional enforcement procedures.

No federal funds for college vaccine mandates
If enacted, this bill would bar federal funds to any college that requires a COVID-19 vaccine. It would apply if a school requires vaccination for enrollment, jobs, or to get any campus benefit, service, or contract. Students and campus workers could be less likely to face school vaccine rules. Colleges that keep mandates could lose federal grants, student aid, or contracts, and might cut services, jobs, or raise costs. The bill lists no exceptions, dates, or phase-ins in the text provided.
