Local AI literacy grants for communities
If enacted, the bill would let the National Science Foundation award grants to nonprofits, schools, and local partners to run AI literacy programs. Grants could pay for curricula, lesson plans, outreach, training, evaluation, and sharing best practices. The program would prioritize communities of color, low-income people, rural areas, seniors, people with disabilities, and other underserved groups. Each grant recipient would have to submit an annual report to NSF on programs, who was served, and what participants learned. Within one year, several federal agencies would also have to report to Congress on how they could advance AI literacy.
