Public database for tax-credit housing

If enacted, HUD would build a public database for buildings that used low‑income housing tax credits. State housing agencies would send data for each property within 18 months after it is placed in service, and every year after. The public data would include ownership, pass‑through status, inspection and habitability results, when affordability rules end, and sales or foreclosures and why. HUD would also note if an owner waived the qualified contract option. HUD would collect development cost figures but would not publish those. HUD would set common definitions, help states report, reduce duplicate reporting with other federal programs, publish the data at least yearly, and issue market reports. For properties leaving the credit program during a year, HUD would collect the final buyer’s details, including if the buyer is a nonprofit.
