Persian Gulf Act
Sponsored By: Representative Ansari, Yassamin [D-AZ-3]
Introduced
Summary
Prohibits using federal funds to rename the Persian Gulf. This bill would bar federal money from being used to change that name. It would also prevent any U.S. law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other official record from referring to the Persian Gulf by a different name unless Congress gives explicit authorization. The text includes a "notwithstanding any other provision of law" clause so the restriction would take precedence over conflicting authorities and apply across federal entities and records.

Blocks federal renaming of the Persian Gulf
If enacted, federal agencies and groups that use federal money would not be able to spend funds to rename the Persian Gulf. No U.S. law, map, rule, or federal record could use a different name unless Congress expressly allows it. This would apply even if other laws say otherwise. It would take effect upon enactment.
