Sponsored By: Representative Kustoff, David [R-TN-8]

Introduced

Summary

Requires a Treasury report mapping senior Iranian oligarchs, state-linked companies, and their global ties. It would analyze how sanctions, debt or equity limits, or adding entities to sanctions lists could affect those actors and U.S. economic sectors.

Show full summary
  • Congress would get a detailed list of senior Iranian political figures and oligarchs. The report must include estimated net worth, ties to President Masoud Pezeshkian or other ruling elites, corruption indicators, known income sources and family holdings, and non‑Iranian business affiliations.
  • It would define and assess Iranian parastatal entities. Those are firms with at least 25% state ownership and about $2 billion or more in 2016 revenue, with focus on leadership and beneficial ownership.
  • The report would assess exposure of key U.S. sectors, including banking, securities, insurance and real estate, to politically affiliated Iranians and state-linked entities.
  • It would evaluate the likely effects of imposing debt and equity restrictions or adding parastatal entities to the Treasury’s Specially Designated Nationals list, including impacts on the targets, on Iran’s economy, and on U.S. and allied economies.
