To amend title 4, United States Code, to ensure that a funeral honors detail recites the 13 Folds of Honor when presenting a flag of the United States in connection with the death of a member of the Armed Forces or veteran.

Sponsored By: Representative Diaz-Balart, Mario [R-FL-26]

Introduced

Summary

Mandated recitation of the '13 Folds of Honor' during folded-flag presentations at military funerals. It would add a new section to Title 4 requiring funeral honors details to recite 13 specific lines tied to each fold when presenting the folded U.S. flag for a service member or veteran, allow the next of kin or their agent to opt out of the recitation, and dedicate the measure to the 13 service members killed at Hamid Karzai International Airport in August 2021.
