Hydropower Licensing Transparency Act

Sponsored By: Representative Schrier, Kim [D-WA-8]

Became Law

Summary

Establishes annual transparency reports on federal hydropower licensing. The law adds Section 37 to the Federal Power Act and requires the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to deliver a report to Congress within 180 days and annually thereafter. The report must cover each new license, each subsequent license under Section 15 where a licensee gave at least three years' notice, and each original Section 4(e) license with a three-year notice. For each license it must list the notice date, docket number, whether an application was filed, the application's status and expected issuance date, dates of upcoming proceedings, and the actions required of licensees, tribes, states, fish and wildlife agencies, the Commission, and other agencies. Information must be disaggregated by license type.
