Block toxic releases from Lake Okeechobee

This bill would require the Army Corps to stop releasing water from Lake Okeechobee at S-308 and S-80 when tests show microcystins above EPA’s recommended limit for recreation (84 Fed. Reg. 26413, or any update). Tests could be done by the Corps, another federal agency, or the State of Florida. If enacted, this could lower exposure to algal toxins for downstream residents, swimmers, and local businesses. It would also limit when water managers can make releases at those two structures.
