PARTNER with ASEAN Act of 2025
Sponsored By: Representative Castro, Joaquin [D-TX-20]
Introduced
Summary
Treat ASEAN as an international organization under the International Organizations Immunities Act. The PARTNER with ASEAN Act of 2025 would authorize the President to extend the IOIA’s immunities and privileges to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on the same terms and conditions used for other public international organizations the United States participates in. The bill does not authorize new funding or create new programs and leaves the specific scope and conditions of immunities to presidential determination.
