More STEM apprenticeships for workers and students
If enacted, the National Science Foundation would set up a competitive grant program within one year. Grants would fund STEM apprenticeships not run by four-year colleges. States, Tribes, cities, public-private partnerships, community colleges, minority-serving institutions, registered apprenticeship sponsors, and consortia could apply. Priority would go to registered sponsors, community colleges, and minority-serving institutions. Funds could cover recruiting trainees, planning help, adding new tech, and creating boards with private STEM employers. Grant money could not be used to pay businesses to relocate.
