Brownfields Broadband Deployment Act
Sponsored By: Representative Walberg, Tim [R-MI-5]
Introduced
Summary
Exempts certain broadband deployments on brownfield sites from NEPA and NHPA environmental reviews. This bill would let Federal Communications Commission‑jurisdiction communications projects that are built entirely within a brownfield site avoid NEPA major‑action and NHPA undertaking reviews so those builds move faster.

Faster permits for brownfield broadband
This bill would speed some broadband builds on brownfield sites. If a project stays entirely within a brownfield and needs FCC approval, it would not trigger full NEPA environmental review or NHPA historic review. It would apply only to deploying or modifying a communications facility on that site. It would not add funding or change taxes. If enacted, the change would take effect upon enactment.
