The bill would amend the Federal Election Campaign Act to let authorized campaign committees pay for child care, elder care, care for qualifying dependents, and in most cases health insurance premiums when those services are necessary to enable campaign participation or to carry out duties as a Federal officeholder.

  • Parents and families: Campaign funds could cover child care and similar dependent care so working parents can more easily run for office while keeping jobs.
  • Caregivers and elder-care custodians: Campaign committees could pay for elder care services needed to participate in campaign activities.
  • Sitting federal officeholders: Health insurance premiums would not be covered by campaign funds for candidates who already hold Federal office.
  • Campaign organizations: Authorized committees would be allowed to pay these personal-use services when necessary to support campaigning or federal duties.
