Summary

Adds an agricultural-area data layer to the National Broadband Map. This bill would require the Federal Communications Commission to update the National Broadband Map within 180 days to include a geospatial layer showing the locations of agricultural areas. The FCC would integrate existing Department of Agriculture location data and consult the Secretary of Agriculture, the Commerce Department's Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information, state representatives, and other stakeholders. The new layer must be incorporated into the map's existing framework and the text does not authorize new funding.

This bill would require the FCC to update the National Broadband Map to add a layer showing agricultural areas. The FCC would have to finish the update not later than 180 days after enactment and would maintain the layer afterward. The FCC would consult the Secretary of Agriculture (including USDA data), the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information, State representatives, and other stakeholders. For this section, the bill would define "Commission" as the FCC and "State" as each State and the District of Columbia.
