Restore and fund NOAA weather services
If enacted, the government would provide $6.7563 billion for NOAA for the year ending September 30, 2026. The Commerce Secretary would have to restore the Billion-Dollar Weather and Climate Disasters product, the Marine Environmental Buoy Database, and the Global Ocean Currents Database, and carry out funded projects. NOAA, including the National Weather Service, would need to stay fully staffed so timely forecasts and alerts are available. Programs that help states and local areas prepare for extreme weather would continue, without cuts to access. Staffing steps would need to happen within 30 days after enactment.
Rehire NOAA workers laid off in 2025
If enacted, NOAA would have to reinstate workers who were fired or removed between January 20, 2025 and the enactment date, if they choose to return. The Commerce Secretary would need to complete these reinstatements within 30 days after enactment. This could restore jobs and pay for affected households.
