Analyzed Economic Effects
2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.
Standard medical deduction for SNAP
If enacted, the bill would let States use a standard medical deduction for elderly or disabled SNAP members who say they have medical bills over $35 a month. The standard deduction would be $155 for fiscal year 2026. Each later year would change by the yearly percent change in the medical Consumer Price Index (ending the preceding June 30). States could set a larger amount if they provide evidence. This would start 180 days after enactment.
Longer SNAP recertification for no income households
If enacted, the bill would let States give SNAP households with no earned income a 36-month certification period. It would also let State agencies use data matches instead of asking for income paperwork for those same households. These changes would apply to certification periods starting 180 days after enactment and would not apply to certification periods that begin before that date.
